Sun Tolerant Hostas

In general, hostas are shade loving perennials but many varieties grow well in part or full sun. Some will even perform better when grown in full sun.
Plantaginea Aphrodite is a good example. I had it in full shade for the first three year. Then in 2005 I transplanted Aphrodite in full sun and I was rewarded
when its double fragrant flowers bloomed in the first days of September instead of the third week in September. Please remember that I'm in Zone 5b.
IMHO hostas have to grow in shade if you are living in hotter Zone 6 or 7...and south... because of the intense sun. Additional watering is also required.
